Every map. Every layer. One platform.

The ELEMNT Blog is the working notebook of the team behind ELEMNT, the cloud-native, AI-native geospatial data platform. It's where we show how planetary-scale maps actually get built and served: the architecture, the trade-offs, the open formats, and the free tools we ship along the way.

If you've ever been burned by per-request map billing, locked into a vendor SDK, or stuck with a platform that can't tell you who changed what, this is written for you.

What ELEMNT is

ELEMNT brings together three things that no single geospatial vendor ships in one platform:

  • Cloud-native delivery on open formats. PMTiles, COG, Zarr, GeoParquet and STAC served straight from object storage over a CDN, OGC API compliant, with no tile-server fleet to run. A 50 GB basemap is one file, not five million.
  • Transparent pay-per-use pricing. A real-time meter and spend caps instead of bill shock. Bring your own datastore (PostGIS, BigQuery, Snowflake, Earth Engine, GeoParquet, Zarr, object storage) and integrate, don't migrate.
  • AI-native from the ground up. Native MCP support connects your maps to models like Claude, Gemini, Bedrock and OpenAI-compatible endpoints, so an agent can query features, render a map, or search a catalog directly.

Git-style data versioning (branch, diff, merge, rollback) and real-time collaborative editing are on the roadmap: versioning at general availability in Q4 2026, collaboration in Q1 2027. Not shipping today. We'd rather tell you that than pretend.

What you'll find here

  • ELEMNT Engineering: deep dives into the architecture. How we serve 3.4 billion GPS points sub-second in a browser tab, why there's no tile server in sight, and what cloud-native geospatial really costs at scale.
  • ELEMNT Review: hands-on tours of the free, no-signup tools from the team behind ELEMNT: geodebug.io for debugging WMS, WMTS, XYZ, PMTiles, COG, OGC API and 3D Tiles services, and Earth Traffic for replaying a country's roads, hour by hour.

Every quantitative claim we publish is either sourced or tagged as an illustrative pre-launch model. No invented customers, no fake benchmarks.

Where ELEMNT is today

ELEMNT is pre-launch, with general availability on July 15, 2026: free tier across every SKU, no credit card, self-serve signup. This blog is where the build happens in the open.
